WE MAKE CHANGE HAPPEN!

Housing First Social Policy

CloudHaus in on a mission to encourage the development of responsible building for unhoused communities providing safe, affordable, earth-friendly dwellings. We support the Housing First social policy, that moves unhoused citizens directly from the streets into their own accommodations, as long as there are robust services available to give them the support they require.

Youth Spirit Artworks' Tiny Village For Un-Housed Youth, Oakland, CA

In 2020, CloudHaus participated in one of the Nation's first tiny home villages dedicated to youth ages 16-21 who had been displaced and experienced homelessness in The Oakland, CA area. We had the pleasure of donating and building a "prefabricated kit" dwelling alongside community volunteers from over 30 faith-based churches who funded YSA Village (still in operation today).

The all red metal building serves as a medical clinic for village youth, leveraging a volunteer medical team of professionals delivering care to YSA Village residence, as well as the extended disenfranchised unhoused population in the surrounding area. The building is also designated as a "shelter in place" dwelling in the event of a natural disaster, given its durability and safety benefits.

Building Safe Villages + Communities

All too often, the homeless are offered shelters that are cheap and easy to obtain which some say is better than nothing.  Homeless encampments are prone to fires, pest infestations, molds and extremely hot or cold temperatures. They deserve to have a comfortable living environment that keeps them warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather, free from fire danger, pests/rodents that cause disease or can enter their dwelling and ransack food supplies.  We have developed the CloudHaus Steward Series of Tiny Houses that do just that.

Community + Collaboration

CloudHaus believes homelessness is not a life sentence even though it may feel like it. We believe in planting seeds (fostering new growth), but not growing roots (a more permanent state that holds one back from living up to their full potential).  If you or a loved one is experiencing homelessness, there are resources to secure temporary housing as well as a gentle pathway forward to more permanent, long-term housing, job placement and community support.
