What's a SIP
According to SIPs.org, Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) consist of an insulating foam or EPS core, sandwiched between structural supports, frames or skins. They are a high-performance building system manufactured under factory controlled conditions and can be fabricated to fit nearly any building design. The "structural" component of the SIP acts as the headers, beams and studs of a dwelling and replaces conventional stick or timber framing with a prefabricated panal system. SIPs can be made of 1. metals (steel), 2. wood (OSB) or 3. cement. For obvious reasons, wood SIPs are not desirable because they are a combustible fuel source, use up a natural resource, are extremely expensive, prone to rot/mold and other wood-timber framing downsides. Steel or Cement SIPs are a much safer, more durable and planet-friendly option. SIPs result is a building system that is extremely strong, energy-efficient and cost-effective, with savings in time, money, labor and utility expenses, depending on which flavor of SIP you choose.
Inside every CloudHauz dwelling are SSIPs (steel structural insulated panels). SSIPs have been used in over 70,000 structures around the world and have been widely used in the construction industry for over 50 years in industries including commercial, residential, hospitality, medical and aeronautics and space. The SIPs we use in all our dwellings have been code-certified, 3rd party validated and tested and are up to code per evaluation report 128.
